As we begin a new year, we’re stepping into 2026 with momentum, purpose, and a deep commitment to equity, community, and growth. Here’s a look at what you can expect from RTA in the coming months—and why this moment feels especially meaningful.

Expanding Access and Advancing Equity

One of the milestones we’re most proud of is the successful launch of Reimagining Myself® at both Albion Correctional Facility and Taconic Correctional Facility. With this expansion, RTA is now operating in all three women’s facilities across New York State. This is a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to equity, ensuring that more incarcerated individuals have access to programs that build critical life skills, foster reflection, and support long-term personal growth.

Reimagining Myself® is also continuing to grow beyond New York. In 2026, the men’s version of the program is launching in Delaware at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, marking another important chapter in our efforts to broaden RTA’s reach and impact.

Welcoming Alumni Home

Community remains at the heart of everything we do. On February 21, we’ll host our annual Homecoming—an event dedicated to welcoming home alumni who have recently returned to their communities. Since our last Homecoming, 43 RTA alumni have come home, each carrying with them the skills, confidence, and connections developed through their time in RTA programs.

This gathering is a powerful reminder that RTA’s work extends far beyond the workshop room and continues long after release.

Bringing Sister Act to Bedford Hills

Looking ahead, we’re also thrilled to share that our RTA participants in Bedford Hills Correctional Facility are producing Sister Act. This upcoming production has generated tremendous excitement among participants and staff alike.

Theater productions like this are more than performances—they are collaborative, rigorous, and deeply human experiences that allow incarcerated individuals to step into leadership, teamwork, and creative expression.

Celebrating 30 Years of RTA

All of this unfolds during a landmark year for our organization. In 2026, RTA celebrates its 30th anniversary. As we reflect on a strong and successful 2025, we’re also looking ahead with gratitude and determination toward the next three decades.

None of this work happens in isolation. It is made possible by a broad and interconnected community of program participants, alumni, teaching artists, staff, board members, supporters, and community partners who believe in what’s possible.

There’s much more to come. As programs continue to expand and communities continue to grow, we invite you to stay connected and be part of what’s ahead.
