Gearing up for Sing Sing’s U.S. Premiere at SXSW

It’s a big weekend for RTA — Sing Sing, the new feature film about our theatre program, will have its U.S. premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, TX. There will be two screenings, a panel discussion with Oscar nominees Colman Domingo and Paul Raci, along with RTA alums, and many other chances to connect.

Friday March 8th:

Panel Discussion: The Beautiful Exchange: Front Row with the Sing Sing Cast
From 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. CT at the Austin Convention Center, Room 16AB

Oscar Nominee Colman Domingo, Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin, Sean San José, and Oscar Nominee Paul Raci take us into the improbable alchemy of blending stage, screen, and unscripted moments into transcendent performances in their new film Sing Sing.

Sing Sing’s U.S. Premiere: Screening and Q&A
From 5:15 – 7:02 p.m. CT at the ZACH Theatre

This is the film’s U.S. premiere, in the storied ZACH Theatre. The film will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and cast, including Domingo, Raci, Maclin and several RTA alumni.

Saturday March 9th:

Panel Discussion: Trust the Process: The Making of Sing Sing
From 10- 11 a.m. CT at Austin Convention Center, Room 17AB

Join the filmmaking team for a deep dive into the seven year journey to bring Sing Sing to life from script to screen and what it takes to truly make films as a community.

Sing Sing Screening and Q&A
From 5:45 – 7: 15 p.m. CT at AFS Cinema

Catch the second screening on Saturday, with a Q&A featuring filmmakers Greg Kwedar, Clint Bentley, producer Monique Walton, and cinematographer Pat Scola, along with lead actor and RTA alum Clarence “Divine Eye” Maclin
