Launched in Delaware earlier this year, Reimagining Myself® is now active at Howard Young Correctional Institution, marking the third state where RTA offers this work.
Reimagining Myself® is RTA’s reentry-focused program designed to support incarcerated individuals as they prepare for life beyond incarceration. Grounded in cognitive behavioral practices and shaped by lived experience, the program creates space for participants to reflect, build communication skills, and strengthen their sense of self and community in the months leading up to release.
The 10-week, voluntary program brings participants together twice a week for exercises rooted in storytelling, performance, and group reflection.
Recently, Delaware Public Media featured the program, sitting in on a final class and speaking with participants and facilitators. The piece captures the energy of the room and the ways participants are stepping into new levels of openness, creativity, and connection. It also highlights how the program focuses on the social and emotional aspects of reentry, helping participants navigate challenges while building toward a more stable transition home.
